Absentee Balloters Turning Out for Primary Election, Clerk Reports

(Source: Clerk Cathy Shaughnessy)

Voters in West Bloomfield Township have been requesting absentee ballots in record numbers for the upcoming Aug. 7 primary election, according to Clerk Cathy Shaughnessy.

"Voters have many contested races to choose from in this election,” said Shaughnessy, pointing to campaigning in several local races as increasing visibility and an informational campaign of printed material to help voters find their way through recent redistricting.

To date, the West Bloomfield Township Clerk’s Office has issued 7,812 absentee ballots, significantly more than in any other primary election since 2000.

Voters may call to request an absentee ballot at 248-451-4848 or obtain an application online at wbtwp.com. All absent voter ballots must be received by the clerk’s office not later than 8 p.m. on Election Day.
