Dr. JoAnn Andrees was honored on Friday June 8 at an Open House held in her honor at West Bloomfield High School. Hundreds stood in line for 2 ½ hours to wish her well and thank her for her years of dedication to the West Bloomfield School District. West Bloomfield Township Trustees Howard Rosenberg, Gene Farber and Larry Brown along with Treasurer Teri Weingarden presented Dr. Andrees with a proclamation defining her commitment to education and to the West Bloomfield community. This year alone, Dr. Andrees was the recipient of the 2012 Greater West Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce Community Excellence Award in Education, the 2012 MASA (Michigan Association of School Administrators) Winner’s Circle Award, and the 2012 Michigan Week Dr. Seymour Gretchko Youth Advocate Award.
Congressman Gary Peters awarded Dr. Andrees an honorary proclamation that will be entered into the Congressional Record on Capitol Hill. Congressman Peters noted before a crowd of several hundred people in attendance that Dr. Andrees’ tenure in primary and secondary public education exemplifies the passion and commitment of a true public servant. She has not only been a leader for quality public education in West Bloomfield, she has been its staunchest advocate and in doing so, has worked with other area leaders to build a thriving community.
