Doherty Teacher Claudette Daniels Receives Mich. Reading Association Educator Award

Doherty Elementary teacher Claudette Daniels has received the Michigan Reading Association Educator Award. Each year at the annual conference, The Michigan Reading Association recognizes educators in five categories who demonstrate outstanding teaching and leadership in the field of reading. The categories are: Elementary Teacher, Secondary Teacher, Administrator, Adult Educator, and Teacher Educator. The winners exhibit:

  • Evidence as a strong advocate of reading
  • Evidence that their work is having an impact on student attitude and achievement in reading
  • Evidence of their leadership reflecting current research and practices
  • Evidence that the nominee is an outstanding role model for others

Nominators provided evidence of Daniels’ powerful influence on students, teachers, administrators, and parents in the community. Daniels’ dedication to her profession is highlighted by these efforts for literacy education and promotion.

The award will be presented at the Michigan Reading Association Annual Conference, Lighting the Way for Literacy, during the general session on Saturday, March 9, 2013 in Grand Rapids.
