Drive Through Ashes to Go on Ash Wednesday

  • Name: Advent Episcopal Church and Sylvan Lake Lutheran Church
  • Occasion: Ash Wednesday, Feb 13

Come and get your ashes! Ash Wednesday is Wednesday, Feb. 13 and marks the beginning of Lent. A cross of ashes made on your forehead on Ash Wednesday is a ritual reminding us we are mortal and will return to dust one day. It also reminds us God wants us to have hope and joy now in the midst of a finite life. Lent is a time of renewal and refreshment in the Christian church. It is a season lasting 40 days and ends on Easter Sunday (Mar. 31, 2013).

You can get ashes and communion at worship services at Advent Episcopal Church and Sylvan Lake Lutheran Church are 12PM and 7PM.

Or, if your Wednesday is crazy-busy, Advent Episcopal Church and Sylvan Lake Lutheran Church will be offering drive-through ashes. Simply pull up to the front of Sylvan Lake Lutheran Church (2399 Figa Avenue, West Bloomfield, MI) anytime between 7:30-9AM or 4-6PM, roll down your window and, tada! We will make a sign of the cross with ashes on your forehead. Anyone can participate in this ritual.

If you have any questions, please call Advent Episcopal Church at 248-338-3505 or visit www.advent-church.com.
