Former 9th District Congressional Opponents Endorse Wolkinson

Today, former opponents Rocky Raczkowski and Paul Welday united to endorsed David Wolkinson for state representative in the 40th District.
Raczkowski stated, "David Wolkinson is a principled voice for conservatism, and the only candidate in the race with the energy and experience to be a leader in the state house from day one. It is with great enthusiasm that I endorse his candidacy, and will work to get him elected to represent the Bloomfield/Birmingham community.”
Welday, who previously served as chief of staff to former congressman Joe Knollenberg, added “I am excited to endorse David Wolkinson for state representative. There isn’t a stronger voice for Republican values than David. He’s a fighter that’s going to make sure we keep moving Michigan in the right direction.”
David enthusiastically accepted the new endorsements. Wolkinson stated that “Rocky and Paul are both leaders in our community. We have a common vision for the future, which is that we need to make Michigan the best place in the world to do business, so we can bring jobs here and give young people a chance to stay"
"To do this we we need legislators in Lansing who will make bold decisions," he continued. "I’m humbled by their support and excited about the momentum we are building as we head into the final month of the campaign.”

Strange that Mr. Raczkowski gave substantial evidence that he would be supporting one of Mr. Wolkinson's opponents (since that opponent would not have listed his endorsement if it was not so) and then did an about-face and endorsed Mr. Wolkinson. I challenge my republican neighbors to look within themselves and begin to question Mr. Raczkowski's earnestness.
Just because someone was your congressional nominee during an election does't mean you need to show unified support for them- especially after they lost. Hell, in '06 Nancy Skinner was my party's nominee and while I didn't say anything during her run I have never had any respect for her and am glad I did not support her openly. She was a terrible egomaniac and a carpetbagger to boot.
Mr. Raczkowski won his primary in '10 by a fluke. I strongly believe that if Ms. Janek and Mr. Kuhn had not run, Mr. Welday would have been the party's nominee and would have won the general outright. And even though he had a disclaimer on his campaign site that his photos in uniform did not imply endorsement from the DoD- my family, in which several generations have given service to the U.S. Military- found it disgraceful that Mr. Raczkowski paraded around using his military service as a defining qualifier for his election. Modesty much?
I think my republican friends and neighbors would be wise to shy away from Mr. Raczkowski. He is friendly (I've met him) but he is not someone I believe embodies the strength of the GOP.
