Avid golfers can laugh at the weather and enjoy their favorite sport on the coldest and snowiest day at the Library Pub Bar and Grill, 6363 Haggerty Road.

To kick off the celebrations of this new business, owner, Al Zara is donating portions of the proceeds on Wednesday Dec. 12 to the Associated Food and Petroleum Dealers (AFPD) Foundation, which raises money for college scholarships and its annual Turkey Drive.  AFPD donated more than 6,000 holiday turkeys to needy families in Michigan and Ohio and awarded $54,000 in college scholarships this year .

Credentialed members of the media can also test out the golfing and hunting that day.

When Al Zara was thinking about launching a new business, he wanted to incorporate his passion for golf. He and longtime friend Ziyad Kased created the concept for virtual golf and brought it to the pub this past year.

Michigan has an abundance of wonderful golf courses, but Mother Nature limits their use for much of the year. While the most important aspect of improving and sustaining a great golf game is muscle memory, Zara said, it’s hard to keep your game sharp in the winter unless you travel to the Deep South.

That’s where Zara’s Play Golf and Hunt 365 comes into play. Based in the Library Pub, the facility lets golf enthusiasts experience more than 80 world renowned courses. And they never have to worry about a rain check.

Zara’s business also appeals to shooters by offering virtual laser hunting simulators. Among the games are clay shooting and boar, elk and deer and clay hunting.

“We opened up Play Golf and Hunt 365 because we love the game of golf, and we want to play golf all year. This gives us a chance to play Pebble Beach when it’s 12 degrees with 8 inches of snow outside. If you love the game of golf, you must come and try Play Golf 365,” said Zara.

Play Golf and Hunt 365 will conduct a media day from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12. Credentialed members of the media will have an opportunity to test out the golfing and hunting at the Library Pub.
