Re-paving Soon to Start on Orchard Lake Road in Farmington Hills
A stretch of Orchard Lake Road in-between 13 Mile and 14 Mile roads will undergo re-paving beginning July 16, which is expected to cause traffic delays.
In a press release issued Friday, Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) public information officer Craig Bryson wrote that the road will remain reduced to one open lane in each direction for the duration of the project. Work is expected to be completed by Oct. 3.
The project involves pavement repairs and the application of three inches of new asphalt. Additionally, curbs and gutters will be repaired where needed, and sidewalks and pedestrian crosswalks will be upgraded to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
The project is expected to cost approximately $1.4 million. Of that amount, approximately $960,000 is being paid for with federal funds. RCOC, the City of Farmington Hills and Oakland County general government (through the Tri-Party Program), will share the remainder of the costs.
The work will be performed by Ajax Paving Industries of Troy.
