Six WLCSD Students Selected to Perform at State Event

Six Walled Lake Consolidated School District high school band and orchestra students have been selected to perform in the 2013 Michigan Schools Band & Orchestra Association (MSBOA) All-State ensembles!

Over 2,000 students from across the state of Michigan auditioned for the All-State program.  The audition required students to perform difficult etudes, a list of memorized scales, and sight-read a piece of music they had never seen before.

Only the top performers for each instrument were selected for the All-State Program.

The following Walled Lake Schools students have been selected to perform in the All-State bands and orchestras:

  • Pujan Bhattarai, trumpet, WL Western
  • Emily Borneman, string bass, WL Northern
  • Keara Boyle, bass clarinet, WL Northern
  • Hannah Brown, clarinet, WL Central
  • Evan Kennedy, trumpet, WL Central
  • Jeran Norman, alto saxophone, WL Central

"We are very proud of these accomplished musicians for their hard work and dedication in the pursuit of excellence on their selected instruments. Bravo!" said Kenneth Gutman, Walled Lake Schools Superintendent.

The MSBOA All-State ensembles will perform at the Michigan Music Conference in Grand Rapids on Saturday, Jan. 19.
