Summit Sports, Inc. announced the opening of a new 78,000-square-foot warehouse and logistics center at 2240 Greer Blvd in Sylvan Lake. The expansion enables the company to keep pace with increased sales and demand on its e-commerce sites and in its four brick and mortar locations. The announcement was made by Steve Kopitz, CEO of Summit Sports, Inc.
The additional warehouse space is needed to accommodate the growth on a local and national level in several key segments of outdoor equipment including, kayaks, stand-up-paddleboards, skis, snowboards apparel and accessories. This is the second warehouse Summit Sports has opened in the last two years. In 2009, Summit Sports opened a 50,000-square-foot warehouse in Auburn Hills.
“We have witnessed significant growth over the past four years and found the need to expand our warehouse and support systems to meet demand,” said Kopitz. “We looked at several areas around the country for our new warehouse and believed that Michigan offers us the best opportunity to continue our growth while providing us with employees who have the skill set and attitude we are looking for.”
Summit Sports operates three physical Summit locations, more than nine e-commerce sites including skis.com and snowboards.com, as well as a dedicated ski shop.
Summit Sports has a total of 150 employees and utilizes more than 125,000-square-feet of warehouse space.
