3 Ways to Prove You're Fearless on Friday the 13th

Patch has a few ways to help you prove you are not afraid today in West Bloomfield.

For those who suffer from triskaidekaphobia, or the fear of Friday the 13th, knowing that today is the just the first of three Fridays that fall on the 13th in 2012 may come as unwelcome news. The other two fall in April and July.

In an effort to help residents who fear 13 of anything, except maybe a baker’s dozen, here are a few ways to overcome your fears in West Bloomfield today:

Adopt a black cat or buy a goldfish

No one will stand in your path if you try to adopt a cuddly kitty from PetSmart today. The store is open from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. For those with cat allergies, the store also sells goldfish — a symbol of good luck to the Ancient Egyptians.

Wash your car

Some folks say washing your car brings bad weather, but you have nothing to lose given the weekend forecast. Jax Kar Wash on Orchard Lake Road provides quick and easy service and post-wash towel-drying. It is open today from 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m.

Wish an actor good luck

Did you know the saying "break a leg" is a superstition against wishing an actor good luck, which is thought to bring thespians bad luck? Confusing, isn't it? Well, you don't even have to leave your house to purchase tickets to Children of Eden, which opens later in the month at West Bloomfield High School. Tickets may be purchased online.
