Normally, we do a countdown of activities to help you plan for your adventures in the upcoming weekend, but with another holiday coming up, we thought we'd focus on everything New Year's.
So far this week we have told you about:
- 5 Completely Different New Year's Days Around the World
- 5 Alcohol-Free Ways to Spend Your New Year's
- 5 New Year's Eve Places to Hang Out at Around Town
- 5 Places to Watch the College Bowl Games
Sometimes the holidays can be a little overwhelming, here are five local deals/ways to help you relieve some of that holiday stress.

Beat the winter blues by swimming at the Family Aquatic Center
What better way to beat the winter blues then jumping in a heated pool? Enjoy forgetting about the cold weather outside while getting some great exercise and having fun. Beginning Jan. 8, the Family Aquatic Center offers open swim sessions 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Each session costs $3.
Play some video games or cozy up with a good book
Release some of that holiday stress by having a friendly competition of video games at home. You can check them out for free at the West Bloomfield Township Public Library. While at the library check out that favorite book you've been wanting to read. Cuddle up on your couch and enjoy some "me" time while becoming engrossed in the story.
Give yourself something to look forward to
West Bloomfield Parks and Recreation is offering a variety of courses beginning in January. You can sign up for something you've always wanted to try, take a fitness course or art class, or find yourself looking forward to one of its special upcoming events like the Winterfest. It is offering 15 minute toning workshop classes that include arms, butt, and tummy workouts. It also offers weekly classes in Zumba, adult water exercise, yoga, belly dancing, Tai Chi, and more. Parks and Rec has art classes that include painting, knitting, quilt making and drawing.
