Buildings torn down this week to make room for new development.
When driving past the intersection of Maple and Orchard Lake roads this week, did you say something to the effect of, "good riddance to bad rubbish?" Or, did you pause to reflect on what used to be there?
Three buildings were demolished this week to make room for new development at the intersection, approved by township officials earlier this year. The approved site plan calls for a two-story, 25,099-square-foot, mixed-use building with a first-floor coffee shop and a second-floor medical office.
Sentimentalists that we are at West Bloomfield Patch, we couldn't help but think back to the closure of Larco's Italian Grill this past June. But on our Facebook page some locals took it even further back in time:
- "(Larco's) was a pancake house in the 70's," wrote Todd Krull.
- "The maple house! They had a big soda fountain with great ice cream," replied Bubba Urdan.
