John Reed, Julie Beaty to Run for West Bloomfield School Board
The filing deadline for one position on the West Bloomfield School Board and other local races was Tuesday.
Earlier this week, we told you about the filing deadline for seats in the Greater West Bloomfield area in the Nov. 6 general election.
Though we already knew who will be on the ballot for various state and regional elections following the Aug. 7 primary election, these races weren't official until now.
West Bloomfield School District
Residents district-wide will be asked to vote for one new member on the West Bloomfield School Board. President Bruce Tobin, whose fifth term ends Dec. 31, withdrew from the ballot after paying a $100 fee to bypass the number of petitions required to gain entry. Tobin had filed to run Jul. 10 and withdrew on Tuesday.
The West Bloomfield residents who will be running for Tobin's spot on the board for one six-year term are Julie H. Beaty and John Reed.
Bloomfield Hills Schools
Residents district-wide will be asked to vote for two members of the Bloomfield Hills Board of Education, while also voting for one person to serve a partial term on the school board.
Running for two regular seats on the Bloomfield Hills Board of Education (to serve six-year terms) are:
- Howard Baron
- Ingrid Day, incumbent
- W.F. Moigis
Running for the partial term (to end Dec. 31, 2014) are:
- Joan Berndt, appointed
- Robert Herner, appointed
- Jenny Greenwell
Walled Lake Consolidated Schools
West Bloomfield residents living in the Walled Lake Schools' borders will vote for two incumbents to fill their spots for six-year terms: Vice President Peggy Casagrande and Trustee Marc A. Siegler.
Sylvan Lake City Council
Incumbent council member Russell Meskin will again seek a three-year term in November, as will E. Cassar. Sylvan Lake voters will choose two on its city council ballot.
Keego Harbor City Council
Incumbent council member Joel Yoder will again seek a three-year term in November, as will John Newberry. Keego Harbor voters will choose two on its city council ballot.
