I'd call it a tie. Others may say Obama won by a small margin, however ONLY because he was more charismatic this time -- and that is all. I think Romney made a good point. Look at Obama's record. Is this country better off than it was 4 years ago? He does not deserve a 2nd term.

Wow when Romney is rude and want to have the last words it okay. But when Obama refused to back down the other side has problems. The facts ae we are better than were four years ago. If Romney and his guys have their way only the rich should have a say in anything. Wow What the truth here..

4 years ago ... the country was in involved in two wars, with no end defined. The financial system was on the brink of collapse. When you bring up how slow this recovery has been....you must try to remember to ask yourself "recovery from what?" There is a reason the George W. Bush has been completely erased from the Republican party and their talking points. We'll never know what President Obama may have accomplished with even a minimum of cooperation.
As for the debate.....the President was the clear winner...and the national polls will prove that out tomorrow.

Yes, the country is better off than it was 4 years ago! Where were you this time in 2008?
U.S. GDP fell in the fourth quarter of 2008 (Oct-Nov-Dec), by annual rate of 6.2%. Declines were heaviest in business investment, exports, finance, autos, housing, construction, and retail sales. The steep decline continued; GDP in the first quarter of 2009 (Jan-Feb-Mar) fell at the annualized rate of 6.1%, much worse than expected. American business capital investment, -38% (ar). Investment in software and computer equipment, -34% (ar). Investment in new buildings, -44%.
The stock market fell by 50% in 2008, wiping out trillions of dollars in assets. More trillions were lost as housing prices fell by 20%. Adding together the declines in housing and the stock market, the net worth of American households declined from $63.7 trillion in January 2008 to $51.5 trillion in January 2009, a decline of $11.2 trillion or 18%.
Bankruptcies among small businesses soared from 206 a day in Dec. 2007 to 357 a day in March 2009.
This is where we were.
Oh, wait.
I often forget.
You Romney supporters don't want anyone to discuss the context of our times, or how Romney intends to double down on the trickle down economic policies of Reagan and Bush. And Romney's "plan"? Shhhh - it's a secret.
Well, suffice it to say we are in a much better condition as a country today than we were 4 years True, even if you disregard the facts cited above.

Mark Z - how is the country not better? I remember the fall of 2008, market freefall, credit markets literally frozen for small and large business, panic about losing 800K jobs a month, GDP contraction at 9%, you couldn't give away a house let alone SELL one, entrenched in 2 wars, saddled with structural (meaning STILL in the budget for Obama and forthcoming POTUSs) debt mainly (according to CBO) from Bush's 2 tax cuts and Medicare Part D, auto industry and manufacturing supply chain on the brink of collapse.
Romney has literally, and I mean literally, assembled W's old team on economic and foreign policy advisors peddling LITERALLY the SAME poliicies. Except throw out the "compassionate conservative" tone, and toss in the fring of the right wing on social issues.
Why would failed Trickle Down economics work THIS time? Keep in mind, when Reagan came in, 1st term - he was able to explode public sector hiring to get out of recession, hugely expand military and give tax cuts ONLY because he came in after a frugal Dem who kept debt/GDP at 32%. Second term it was up to close to 50%, that's when he had to raise taxes and cut deals.
So either Romney does what he says he will do in during his candidacy, which is a recipe for double dip (expansionary austerity is a myth), or he will say whatever to win, then raise taxes on middle and lower. His "six studies" that say the math works are all friends, W folks and right wing think tanks. GWHB was right "Voodoo economics!"

And because he got in the facts that Romney avoids such as one of his cuts is funding to Planned Prenthood (a major source of breast exams and health care for women), he got in Romney being against the auto bailouts which brought about yet another (I'm counting 3 now) explanation from Romney "I wanted them to go bankrupt so they would get stronger" - yeah that makes sense coming from a businessman. Can you imagine what Michigan would be like if that had happened? He also made the point that his changes to health care are going directly into the middle classes pocket. I am saving a ton of money being able to keep my college age kids on my health insurance. I am better off - hell yes. I couldn't believe the increase in my mutual funds last quarter.

Don't think so, I think he said it was a terrorist attack, if that was what you mean. BUT a terrorist attack can encompass an attack on an embassy as a result of a movie that Muslims considered offensive. It was all a play on words. Check the following week when Susan Rice said it was all about a movie, NOT.

Scooby - I realize Romney doesn't like to get caught in a lie on camera, especially by a woman. But Candy was right, read the transcript. Facts are a stubborn thing.
"No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation, alter that character, or eclipse the light of the values that we stand for. Today we mourn four more Americans who represent the very best of the United States of America. We will not waver in our commitment to see that justice is done for this terrible act. SCOOBYDOO: Sounds like you and shaggy have been smoking too many scooby snacks lately. What 'facts' is Romney in touch with? His tax plan that we will not explain? Five TRILLION dollars that he will not explain how he is going to pay for until you elect him....where are the 'facts' there? The Libya attack that Romney is so desperate to turn into a campaign issue, he will lie during a national debate? You're just another miserable hack that hates Obama so much (you really don't know why) you will believe anything the Romney campaign says, facts and details be damned. Funnier still, you live in a city, county, and state that is going to vote for Obama. Take another bong hit and maybe you will see women falling out of Romney's binders.

The moderator fact checked Romney and said out loud that Obama indeed did call the attack on Bengazie "a terror attack" the day after it happened, it is you that missed what the moderator said. I would also say that Romney was flat out lying when he said he cares for 100% of Americans as I heard the tape on which he said in private to $50,000.00 a plate contributors in Boca Raton that he was writing off 47%. I believe the version on the tape, not the public rhetoric of Romney. I find it very odd that the last debate will take place at some private college in Boca Raton, I wonder how much money those donors paid to get it close to their turf?

Neither Obama nor Romney are going to change the course of our State, region, or County. That course was set decades ago by BOTH parties with Free Trade (NAFTA) as a segue to the WTO and GATT. End game - not "high paying export jobs" but to get corporate interests to the government controlled labor of South China - controlled by the totalitarian government there to $0.60 per hour, and import the goods produced into the US tariff free. I am running for the Macomb Community College Board of Trustees (an unpaid position) consistent with my pledge not to become part of the problem. Romney proved he doesn't know what he is talking about. Hey, Scoob - read it and whine:
" As Americans, let us never, ever forget that our freedom is only sustained because there are people who are willing to fight for it, to stand up for it, and in some cases, lay down their lives for it. Our country is only as strong as the character of our people and the service of those both civilian and military who represent us around the globe.
No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation, alter that character, or eclipse the light of the values that we stand for. Today we mourn four more Americans who represent the very best of the United States of America. We will not waver in our commitment to see that justice is done for this terrible act. So, repeat after me slowly - President Obama knew and told the truth; wanna-be Romney lied while trying to make political hay. And this after Romney failed to acknowledge our troops in combat during his acceptance speech, claiming “When you give a speech, you don’t go through a laundry list. You talk about the things that you think are important".
Right. 68,000 soldiers in an active combat zone don't merit a shoutout during your acceptance speech - indicative of Romney's disconnect.
President Obama won the debate. Period. Next.

Get your facts correct. Obama and his minions incorrectly blamed the Libya attacks on a stupid video for days when it is an established fact that our Intel sources told them it was a terrorist attack the next day. Bottom line is that Obama did not want to ruin his campaign speeches by having to acknowledge that Al Queda still exists and murdered our ambassador. So they lied and locked up an idiot, with no bail, that did not cause this.

Both came out swinging like Ali vs Frazier. In the end I felt Mitt Romney got the better of the president. Unfortunately for obama he has a 4 year record of failure that Mitt just took apart. Make no mistake obama has never been challenged like this before his life and at times you could see the steam coming out of his ears. I can not believe that republicans think that Obama has done nothing in 4 years. Obama has done more in 2years than what Bush did in 8. What exactly is Bush's legacy? War and recession? The president has pulled this country up and out of it's near grave and that takes time and work from both sides which is difficult because the other party doesn't want to work with him, hmmmm. It's not voting with wallet, just common sense. The biggest issues our country faces aren't the social issues (I care greatly about them, but they are not #1 for me in this election as they have been in the past) - it's the economy and foreign policy. As much as people want to say Obama has done nothing - not true. That said, anointing him savior isn't right either. He hasn't had to deal with the same "crap" GWB did - I will say Bush did a very good job with what he was handed, which didn't put our country in a good spot. Coming in, Obama had Congress with him and he did very little. Now that Congress is "against" him, he's doing less. And stop blaming the right for not working with him - both parties are failures in that they only care about going further either direction. Obama as the most far-left President in history got things off to a bad start and then the Tea Party took things the other direction. I'd like to see this election end up with Romney coming back to his more centrist roots socially and keep his fiscally conservative policies - that's what we need to get people working together rather than against each other all the time, and only then can our nation really begin to recover.

President Obama recieves a TKO in my book. Romney said it took 14 days before he called the attack in benghazi an act of terror when in fact the day following he said "no act of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation.....". This is romney trying to dis-credit the current admin and it failed.
Romney tried attacking Obama on Detroit and the auto bailout when in fact Romney wanted to let detroit go bankrupt and that would have forced GM and Chrysler out of business. he did not want to use gov't money for bailout but use private sector money. the banks were in a crisis and private loans were not available. Without money fron the gov't both companies would have gone under. Keep in mind, how many of our friends and neighbors would be out of a job without the bailout. How many of your friends and relatives would be without their pensions or have their pensions severely reduced. Look at the tax revenue our local area collects from Gm,Ford and Chrysler, what kind of effect would that have had on our economy, our schools and the infrastructure. That alone should make us all think twice about who we are voting for. An to make matters worst, how many Republicans in our area who work for GM and Chrysler are still going to vote for Romney. Each and every one of them would throw their mother an anchor if she was drowning.
Romneys tax plans just dont add up either the middle class in his plan will continue to bail out while the greedy rich get richer.

Hey Don...last I checked, GM and Chrysler did go bankrupt...didn't they. Our tax dollars just saved them. How's the GM stock doing now that the government owns more than 1/4 of them...with no long term solution in sight.
If you like the President spending money like he has an unlimited check book with YOUR money, I guess Obama is your man. He'd TKO'd alrighty... He TKO'd the budget of this country into a mess.
And all of you that are so bent on blaming this mess on Bush...how nice it must be to have short memories.
Government deregulation started under Regan and accelerated under Clinton.
You can thank them for the trickle down effects which caused the collapse of our financial and housing system. Please show me what bills Bush (W) signed into law that had the largest negative effect on Wall Street and the housing market. You can't. But it's easy to blame the previous administrations for all of the current's failures. Who is Obama going to blame for the last 4 years? Himself?

Ms. Rubin thought that on balance, Rubin feels the way Romney does RE: administration's overall comments in the aftermath of the Libya incident. However, Candy Crowley was NOT wrong about the ACTUAL WORDS Obama said in the Rose Garden. Read the transcript, and stop presenting Opinion pieces as factual documents.
Interesting from the party that built an entire campaign of trying to nail Obama down on THE EXACT WORDS that he uses (mostly, out of context - "you didn't build that"), NOW Repubs want to talk about NOT exact words Obama said, but argue "context". Sound fair and balanced?

What was so telling was Romney's disdain for woman..he cannot handle female commentators, and he also has little respect for the very office he wants to occupy. What candidate in history says to the President during a debate.."hang on you'll get your turn?" He needs to refer to his "binder full of woman" and see what they think. When you have no plans, when you are a broken record with the same memorized lines at each venue, you simply say the same speech you always say..only louder. He was actually offensive to me. For those of you who are Romney supporters, please know I do not have blinders on, I was simply turned off by his antics.

The President steadfastly and consistently worked to fortify and support this country. Passage of historical Affordable Care act- support of the auto industry and his steadfast belief in ALL people of this nation. The Republicans have absolutely obliterated their beloved President Bush from existence after two Wars and policies that have gutted this nation- The Republicans really want to go back to the policies of deregulation, war mongering and extreme right social policies that in effect do nothing for this nation. I will support anyone that takes office, for it is this country and our values as a whole that define us, not a single party. However, being a mother of girls, I agree with President Obama that I want my young ladies to have the same opportunities as any man. I also do not want any man or party to make medical decisions for my daughters. I think there is always someone pointing fingers and quick to ridicule, but I cannot imagine anyone could have fixed our country in a 4 year period. McCain would not have gotten us any further than we are. Unfortunately, no matter who wins, we have a long uphill climb, that not being the fault of either party running for office. That being said, if you fall in the middle class, really think about who is truly looking out for you and your family vs. who just wants to win. Obama won my vote when he took down Bin Laden. I think many americans needed that closure. I commend him for standing up for women and gays as well. Best of luck to both candidates <3

On "The View" which was after the Rose Garden "acts of terror" remark, Obama quoted that they didn't have all the answers and that it was a spontaneous mob reaction. Footage from the embassy show that there was no spontaneous mob. So seems like a cover up to me. And yes even Anderson Cooper had more info. If the president truly thought it was a terrorist attack, why did he spend the next two days campaigning in Nevada and taking to The View? Shouldn't he have been discussing
strategies with the joint chiefs of staff? Speaking of which,
he is the first president to decide to skip the daily morning
briefings/ discussions with the joint chiefs. This has posed
a problem because there has been no general discussion and exchange of ideas. He just gets the paper brief - and is the FIRST president to think it is OK to miss the meetings.

Who cares?
It is one night and everyone has an opinion based on their preconceived notions. What really counts is who has the plan, experience and performance to get us back on track and on to prosperity?
Interview each of the candidates based on their experience and record of results, not what they say about the other guy. They both have records, they both have made promises in the past, and did they keep those promises provide the results they guaranteed?
We should spend our vote on the candidate that can do the job, not what they say on a particular day.

Obama most definitely won! He spoke about his many achievements in contrast to Romney’s sketchy and often disproven plans. And, Romney was way too aggressive, rude and broke the debate rules by asking questions directly of the President. Romney also demonstrated his interest in making political gains over the Libya incident, something he’s been doing since that incident was first learned of, and he avoided answering the “equal pay for equal work by women” question because he opposes equal pay. Romney wants to take women back to the 1960s, based on his plan to end Planned Parenthood and other backward aims.
Most media outlets and polls agree, Obama won.

At this stage it's hard to believe that anyone hasn't made up their minds. The debate was very poorly run. Some of the questions were off the wall. President Bush was not running. Why didn't they ask President Obama how he would be different from President Carter, another failed President.
President Obama had 4 minutes more time than Gov. Romney. He had to try to get his point in there.
The moderator 's choice of topics certainly were ( what they thought would be in Obama's favor) Obama's talking points.
Obama's lies seem to go over all of thier heads. His words are out there, right out of his own mouth.
Liberals don't pay attention to facts.
BETH, points to all the liberal polls, what a joke!! Obama could have forgotten where he was, and they would have touted him he winner.

We are NOT better off than we were 4 years ago! My husband lost his job in 2008. He is still not working ful-time. We struggle to make ends meet. We have no health insurance. Personally, I am not better off than I was 4 years ago. I know many people who share my circumstances. Where do you people get your facts? The media is biased - be careful! Investigate it for yourselves. Ask people you meet - get their opion - I know lots of folks who say, "I'm not better off than I was 4 years ago." Oh, by the way, have you bought gas lately?

I am sorry about your husband's job. But note the year he lost it...2008, still under Bush. I am sorry you have no health insurance. But one of the outstanding accomplishment's of Obama is to create a way for all to have affordable health insurance. And yes, gas prices seem high, and have in fact doubled during Obama's term, but they actually spiked in the summer of 2008 to levels higher than today: http://zfacts.com/gas-price-history-graph , and then crashed right before Obama took office. I am sorry to hear that you have had a hard 4 years, but Obama is working for you, and Romney will work against you, by reversing Obamacare and cutting social services to balance his tax cuts for the rich.

The American people won because they are now starting to sort out what this race is all about. The President has fought hard for ordinary people, and we expect that will continue. His record is much better than the billion dollar marketing program against him claims, and he has a plan for the short and long term future. Mr. Romney has nothing. He changes opinions (and distressingly values) like a chameleon, and his slick salesmanship offers nothing but rhetoric. How would he create those 12 million jobs? How would he cut more taxes and still lower the deficit? How will he demonstrate that he knows anything at all about diplomacy and foreign policy. It wasn't close and it shouldn't be in November. Obama is the thinking person's candidate.

Obama's record debt and borrowing is unsustainable. He is saddling our youth and future generations with a very heavy burden. I feel Romney will do better in containing these costs.
Obama care is a joke. I work in health care, and the changes that are coming are not good. And again health care costs will escalate and health care in the US will become abysmal for the majority except for the elected and the unions.
We cannot keep printing and borrowing more money. It just does not make sense.

If Obama is for women, why does his administration pay them less than men of equal position?
Saying act of terror as a generality does not specifically point to this attack. If that was the case, why go to the UN, the View, and send out the State department cronies on Sunday news shows and continue to talk off a video?
Libya is an issue and it directly reflects the craziness that has exploded over the pay 18 months in the middle east. This administration has weak leadership. Bowing to the Saudi king? The last time I checked, the leader of the free world bows to noone.

Obama won - all the media outlets said he did - CBS, CNN, ABC! Big deal. All these outlets are in the tank for Obama. I suppose MSNBC and the New York Times think he won too. After last debate, anything remotely presentable on his part was going to be declared a win for Obama.
It is not the job of the moderator to advance the President's position. Even if Romney was wrong about whether the president referred to the incident in Libya as terrorism, it's Obama's job to respond to that, not the moderator's. Psst - Your bias is showing (again).
The MSM is on a no holds barred crusade to drag this loser over the finish line.

Obama and Romney weighed in on plans to deal with illegal immigrants. Romney suggested that the children brought to this country illegally by their parents might be able to earn citizenship by serving in the military. So Mr. Romney tell us how you really feel about these families who are trying to find a better life for their children! The best place for them is the military? Is that to prove their patriotism?

I have served in the military. If you're telling me that a four year commitment to the armed services is too much of a burden, then go back to your home country!
They didn't mind going to our schools and using our services for a prolonged period of time without having participated in taxes. One caveat would be to ensure that all participants must be able to speak fluent English.
I think it would be a good plan. It would also give these young men and women a better understanding of what it means to be an
American.
Its not like most kids couldn't do without some structure like the military. I would support an initiative like this and we would be better as a country for it.

I don't believe there was a clear winner but I do believe the moderator was a clear loser. I thought she was doing an overall good job until she decided to interject herself with her fact check- which was incorrect. She lost a lot of credibility as a journalist.
At this point, I find it difficult to believe that there are very many undecided voters. Apathetic perhaps, but not undecided.
Reading these comments shows just how divisive our country has become, not good folks. The class warfare, women vs. men vitriol is nauseating. We are Americans first and our opinions can be disagreed with but shouldn't be vilified.
I am the daughter of an immigrant, sibling to 3 union members-one at the state level, one is a teacher and one works for GM - the sister in law of a tier II supplier, the aunt of 2 gay nephews and a working mother trying to keep it all together, I can not begin to tell you how I have been vilified for switching my vote to Romney this year by my leftist friends. When I voted for Obama in 2008, my right wing friends did not bash me in the same manner. I'm finding out the hard way who really belongs to the party of intolerance. Note- I said friends. Then dems trotted out Anita Hill and every since then is has been a tit for tat. Bork, then whitewater, travel gate, Hilarycare, Lewinski, then hanging chads, then swift boat. You get the picture. Repuds are just as guilty as dems on this. We should have let Lewinski go, it wasn't worth the political price we paid. I was a huge mistake. Obama has just taken it to a new level of partisanship. I'm afraid the blame for the mean-spirited divide can pretty much be laid at the feet of the Tea Party and the neo-Republicans who seem to have embraced the crazy. Will Mitt Romney file to amended 2011 return after the election... Mitt Romney did not claim all of his charitable deductions on his 2011 tax return. This was done to artificially keep his effective tax rate above 13 percent to keep Romney's taxes in line with a claim he made earlier this year that he had never paid less than a 13 percent rate without this deliberate overpayment, he'd have had an estimated tax rate of just 12.2 percent, the lowest he's disclosed for any year. So he's paying 14.1% of his total income in federal taxes this year. But the most cynical part of this ploy? I predict Romney will simply file a revised tax return the day after the election, making his effective tax rate for 2011 just 12.1%. Question, Mitt Romney will you amend your 2011 tax return?

Mitt Romney drove his family on a 12 hour run to Canada in 1983 -- and put his dog on the roof, in a dog-carrier. Now, the family swears that poor Seamus LOVED it -- which might even be believeable, it's just like a dog sticking his head out the window and enjoying the fresh air, but more so, right? Except for the REST OF THE STORY.
While they were driving, Romney's oldest son Tagg noticed a brown liquid running down the window of the car. That's right, Seamus was making it very clear to the family that he was not enjoying his view perch.
But that's still not the weirdest part of the story. Mitt Romney pulled the car over, got a hose, and washed down the car and the dog. Fair enough. But then he put the dog back on the roof and drove the rest of the way!! That's the kind of cold, heartless logic that made Mitt so good at.
Now (February 2012) there's a new twist. Romney has always insisted the dog loved riding on top of the car (despite the fact that he defecated himself, and Mrs. Romney told reporters that Seamus "lived to a ripe old age." But the New York Observer reports that two of Romneys' sons told reporters, off the record, that Seamus actually ran away when they got to Canada. The Romney campaign has no comment. Question, Mitt Romney did Seamus actually run away?

Predatory Capitalism --The most famous example is an office supply company called American Pad and Paper. Romney and Bain Capital bought it from Mead Company, when it had total debts of $11 million. By the time they sold it, the company had $400 million in debt -- and Bain had earned $100 million off the deals, between fees it charged the company for managing it and for buying other companies, and profits from selling the company's stock after they took it public (for yet another fee). Bain was later sued by stockholders for fraud in overstating the value of the company. Question, Mitt Romney is this the way you will manage the federal government?

Medicare Fraud That Made Him Rich -- In 1989, Romney led Bain Capital's purchase of Damon Corp., a medical testing company, and took a seat on the Board of Directors to better manage it. During Romney's four years, Bain tripled its investment, and Romney personally made $473,000 -- while Damon plumped its profits with Medicare fraud (running thousands of medical tests doctors didn't want, and billing Medicare for them). The company pled guilty to crimes committed during his tenure and paid a record fine of $119 million. Company President Joseph Isola pleaded no contest to fraud, and a vice president was also convicted.
Romney claims he "uncovered" the fraudulent claims and "took corrective action," but court records show that he did not notify prosecutors or stop the fraudulent billing. He just asked company lawyers what changes they could make to avoid prosecution, after the feds' LABSCAM prosecution targeted a different medical testing firm. The cheating continued, prosecutors say, until the day Bain sold the company to Corning. Furthermore, Damon Corp. was required to list in various SEC filings any significant legal risks it faced. Romney made no mention of the fraud he "uncovered," even though it led to a $119 million fine, the largest in history. Damon Corp. is another Bain acquisition that later went bankrupt, killing over a thousand jobs -- but not before Bain made $7.4 million in profit. Question, Mitt Romney is this the way you will manage our health care?

Mitt Romney's immigration policy -- Mitt Romney makes a big issue of being tough on illegal immigrants. He has pushed for a wall on the Mexican border so hard that Bill O'Reilly offered to call it the "Mitt Romney Memorial Wall."
The only problem is, Romney has hired illegal immigrants to tend his gardens for over 10 years. Three illegal immigrants interviewed by the Boston Globe said they have worked on Romney's lawn for years, that he greets them with a "Buenos dias", and that his wife was friendly and often asks how they are. Two were interviewed back in Guatemala, where they have returned. They made $8 to $9 per hour working 11 hour days. "They wanted that house to look really nice," said one worker, now back in Copado, Guatemala. "It took a long time." The other, Rene Alvarez Rosales (now in Suchitepequez, Guatemala) said it cost him about $5,000 to have a smuggler take him across the border.
They all work for "Community Lawn Care with a Heart," a small company run by legal Colombian immigrant Ricardo Saenz. Asked about his workers' statements that they were illegal immigrants, Saenz said "What you've heard is not my problem. ... I don't need to tell them to show me documents. I know who they are, and they are legal." When Romney was asked about the workers, he said "Aw geez" and walked away. Question, Mitt Romney what is your immigration policy?

Does Mitt Romney tell the truth? -- In his 2008 presidential campaign, Romney simply lied repeatedly while trying to reinvent himself as a conservative.
For example:
-- "I have a gun of my own." (Not true. He was talking about a gun one of his grown sons own.)
-- "I've been a hunter pretty much my entire life." (He hunted once at 15, and a second time in his late 50s.)
-- "I told you what my position was, and what I, what I did as governor; the fact that I received the endorsement of the NRA." (No - and his Democratic opponent actually had a higher NRA rating)
-- "I saw my father march with Martin Luther King." (No, they never marched together. They were both in Michigan at the same time once, but Mitt was in France on his mission.)
-- "My father and I marched with Martin Luther King Jr. through the streets of Detroit." (even more false...)
Question, Mitt Romney should our president always tell the truth?

Mitt Romney's new war with Iran -- Mitt Romney, incredibly, was able to avoid serving in Vietnam because he was on his Mormon mission, driving around the French countryside. (The Mormon church defined missions -- which all good young Mormon men go on -- as a form of priesthood.) In fact, not one of Romney's five sons has served in the military either, despite Mitt arguing for U.S. military involvement in Iran, Syria and elsewhere. Even more outrageously, when he was asked to justify this hypocrisy, Romney claimed that his sons were serving the country by driving Winnebagos around Iowa and campaigning for him. Question, Mitt Romney after your elected president following in the footsteps of George Bush and invade Iran looking for weapons of mass destruction -- Question, Mitt Romney should your sons join the military and go?

Is Barack Obama a Muslim? Educated in Madrassa? Won't Salute the Flag? Fox News ran a story claiming that Obama had been educated in a madrassa school in Indonesia. If you're not familiar with that term, it's a type of fundamentalist Muslim school, often funded by the extremist Wahabi sect of Islam (with Saudi money) and often very anti-American.
There was only one problem with the story: it was completely false. Yes, Obama had gone to school in Indonesia as a kid; two schools in fact. One was Catholic, the other was a public school, with teachers and kids of various faiths.
The only scandal here is that Fox News ran the story with no facts or reporting backing it up. They simply repeated a story from a highly partisan website, with no effort to check out the school. It's there, still open, and easily visited. Reporters who did so found out that the story was false in minutes.
There have been several other stories about Obama floating around in emails -- that he has no birth certificate, was born in Kenya, refuses to put his hand over his heart when saying the pledge of allegiance, that he is secretly Muslim, etc.

P.S. Mitt Romney record for job creation as governor of Massachusetts...
By the time Mitt Romney left office, Massachusetts was 47th in the nation in job creation. Using state-level statistics from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the federal government’s official source of employment data... figures for non-farm jobs, seasonally adjusted. And because the Massachusetts governor takes office in early January... data for December of each year as a baseline. From December 2002 to December 2006, Massachusetts ranked 47th out of 50 states (not including the District of Columbia) in job growth. (Calculated that by using the number of jobs at the beginning and end of the period for each state to determine the percentage change and then ranking the states.) Only Ohio, Louisiana and Michigan fared worse.

P.S. Mitt Romney record as governor of Massachusetts...
Mitt Romney promised to bring his experience from the corporate boardroom to Massachusetts -- the same promise he’s making now during presidential debates. But Romney economics didn't produce then...
• Stagnant job growth: During Governor Romney’s term, Massachusetts fell from 36th to 47th out of 50 states in job creation, while the overall U.S. economy grew.
• Declining manufacturing: By the end of Governor Romney’s term, Massachusetts had lost more than 40,000 manufacturing jobs -- a rate twice the national average.
• Higher taxes: Gov. Romney raised taxes on the middle class, but pushed through a tax cut that overwhelmingly benefited 278 of the wealthiest individuals in MA.
• Highest debt in the nation: Under Mitt Romney, Massachusetts’ debt burden grew to the highest per person in the nation.
• Increased government spending: State spending increased every year while Romney was in office, and he left behind a $1 billion deficit for the next governor.
• Jobs outsourced overseas: Governor Romney failed to protect good jobs in Massachusetts, and actually outsourced state jobs to India.

It seems that billions borrowed from China is only a problem when a Dem is in office. Funny, didn't see too many Tea Party rallies when W was spending like a drunken sailor and hiding the wars off the books on supplementals.
Also funny, when a Republican GWB admin accepted Solyndra's application for a grant - they weren't wasting time and money. And A123 deal is looking like it's turning out well for its new investor, and the industry, and keeping Amercan jobs. There's natural consolidation in the process of a fledging industry. I'm still unsure why people who are successful are being vilified. I was always taught if I worked hard enough or had a great idea, I could be wealthy beyond my dreams. Mind you, that hasn't happened, but I still believe America is about the only place that happens any more. I choose to protect that by electing Romney.
I want to be the 1 percent. Hopefully I can donate as much money to less fortunate people that Mr. Romney has. He's donated more than Biden and Obama put together. He's not perfect, but I trust him more than the cover up in chief we have now.

Aaron, glad you are aiming to be super wealthy. However, it would not automatically qualify you to be President. Romney made his money as a venture capitalist. The #1 job of a VC is to make money for the investors. Period. This does not have a thing to do with creating jobs.
And I haven't seen anyone vilifying Romney's success; he seems ashamed of it and refuses to release the same years of tax returns President Obama has. Just what about his business dealings does he keep hiding?
What has been under attack is his record as a governing leader. Look at his record in MA:
... a weak comparative economic performance of the state over the Romney years, one of the worst in the country. - Center for Labor Market Studies, Northeastern University
While the median income nationwide was on the rise, it was dropping in Massachusetts. [Bls.Gov]
After Romney, Massachusetts had lost more than 40,000 manufacturing jobs - a rate twice the national average. [Bls.gov]
After increasing fees and taxes for middle-class families and businesses, Romney pushed through a tax cut that overwhelmingly benefited 278 of the state’s wealthiest individuals, costing taxpayers more than $75 million. [Associated Press, 11/18/05]
And now he plans to inflict that ol' Romney magic on the whole country? Oh, no thanks!
Under both President Clinton and President Obama, the upper 1% has done quite well. Your aspirations are safe with President Obama.

Barack Obama is about to learn the lesson Jimmy Carter learned in 1980 when he lost to Reagan -- and found his lead collapsing after the debates. When a president with a failed record tries to win by attacking and demonizing his opponent, he can succeed only if there are no debates. So sorry Barry.

Reagan won due to the Iranian hostage crisis and Reagan's interference and back door promises of weapons if the Iranians would not release the hostages while President Carter was in office. Reagan went on to ruin our tax system, leaving us with the discredited "trickle down" economy. George H. W. Bush was correct - it was indeed "voodoo economics".
Furthermore, the false legacy of Reagan left us with this historic double standard - the geat lie of American politics in the 20th century: "Reagan," Vice President Dick Cheney famously declared in 2002, "proved deficits don't matter." Unless, that is, a Democrat is in the White House. After all, while Ronald Reagan tripled the national debt and George W. Bush doubled it again, each Republican was rewarded with a second term in office. But as the Gallup polling data show, concern over the federal deficit hasn't been this high since Democratic budget balancer Bill Clinton was in office. All of which suggest the Republicans' born-again disdain for deficits ranks among the greatest - and most successful - political double-standards in recent memory. http://goo.gl/aqDBn
So, since Romney's vague plans are best estimated to cause great harm to those making under $250K by featuring a return to "trickle down", and since his advisers harken largely from the Bush administration, we better pray President Obama gets re-elected.
BTW, Romney demonizes himself quite well, especially since the devil is indeed in the details.

There is a very big difference between disagreeing with someone's policies and ideologies and attacking their character or person. Now look to the level people have stooped -- accusing the President of the United States of being an anti-American Marxist, Muslim... It's absurd and ignorant and disrespectful.

Here is something laughable to talk about. Last night Obama ran around saying how much money we are all going to save when our cars get 50 mpg. What he neglected to mention and unfortunately Romney wasn't breifed on is what the increased cost is going to be to manufacture a vehicle that gets that kind of gas mileage. Estimates are anywhere for 5 to 10K more. So yes you will double your gas mileage, it is gonna cost you 40k to buy a Chevy Malibu or Honda Accord.
FHVoice
1:07 pm on Thursday, October 18, 2012
RG, no, the estimates are that the average price of a vehicle will increase by approximately $1,800 by 2025 to meet the new standards. Consumers will more than make up for the additional cost by saving on average $8,000 in fuel expenses at today’s prices for a 2025 model year vehicle compared to today’s vehicles.
The Department of Transportation worked with 13 major automakers, the UAW, EPA, and the state of California to develop the new CAFE rules to create one national standard for automakers to abide by. That's regulatory certainty that everyone can appreciate.
The new rules are expected to encourage innovation and investment in new technologies by automakers as well as create new jobs in the industry. Already, since 2009, the 2011-2016 rules in place have added around 250,000 new jobs.
Oh, and there will also be a mid-program evaluation after four years to see if the regulations are working.
So, given the savings, industry cooperation, regulatory certainty, intermediate progress evaluations, and additional high tech jobs, perhaps your problem is that you oppose all action taken during the administration of President Obama?

FHVoice - you're part of the problem with the political system - open your eyes for a minute and see that republicans aren't all satan and have some good ideas - to say Go Obama/Biden/Democrats means you vote straight ticket only and don't care what anybody else has to say - that's not how this world should operate.
Mares Hichert - you're also part of the problem, if you listened to what Romney said in that private party, you'd understand he never said he didn't care about the 47%, just that he wasn't focused on trying to sway their votes. It's quite a different thing - but again, if you want to hear something that's all you'll hear, which is clearly the case here.
Erin - referring to the "binders of women" crap - how I heard it portrayed is romney was provided a group of men as applicants for a cabinet position, he asked why there weren't any women in the group. Heaven forbid we stop to think that 1) there weren't any women that applied for the post or that 2) there weren't any qualified women that applied. Just because you're a woman doesn't make you qualified to do something, just like being a man doesn't qualify you do to something. People again are playing stupid games that will get us nowhere. In my industry, women are the majority, there are programs in place to advance women and miniorities, and women and minoirities get paid no differently than similarly rated white men. Should I now complain that I'm being discriminated against as a white man?! Lunacy!

Oh, and your attempt to whitewash Romney's disdain for the 47% ignores what he said when he thought he was only talking to his kind of people:
"There are 47% of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47% who are with him, who are dependent upon government, WHO BELIEVE THAT THEY ARE VICTIMS, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, WHO BELIEVE THAT THEY ARE ENTITLED TO health care, to food, to housing, to YOU NAME IT. That that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what.... These are people who pay no income tax. 47% of Americans pay no income tax. So our message of low taxes doesn't connect. ... And so my job is not to worry about those people. I'LL NEVER CONVINCE THEM THEY SHOULD TAKE PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY AND CARE FOR THEIR LIVES."
Mark, writing "never said he didn't care about the 47%, just that he wasn't focused on trying to sway their votes" shows just how committed you are to Romneyism.
Finally, the candidates were were presented to him. He didn't request it, but clearly he remembered it as a "binder full of women".
That you would have us forget it all or split a ticket "just because" is indeed part of the problem with the political system.

Dear Mark,
I did listen to what Romney said and the tone of voice and where he said it-in a room full of supporters who paid $50,000 as an entrance fee. When he says he isn't focused on trying to sway their votes, as you say, that is directly saying that he won't be focused on 47%. In a democracy if the candidate doesn't care about your vote and that is all you have as you don't have $$$$ to get his presence or attention then whatever you want to call it, the 47% aren't being cared about. Please let me interpret what I heard, saw, and read for myself. You can talk about what you heard saw and read about the event for yourself. If you read more about the Binders, you will find out that before Romney took office a non-partisan group of women put the Binders together for the next occupant of the Governor's Office which happened to be Mitt Romney. Where are you reading? I would suggest reading some Fact Check articles for both candidates so you can factually talk about your opinions. Just where did you "heard in portrayed?"

Eric Holder, attorney general under President Barack Obama, has prosecuted more government officials for alleged leaks under the World War I-era Espionage Act than all his predecessors combined, including law-and-order Republicans John Mitchell, Edwin Meese and John Ashcroft.
The indictments of six individuals under that spy law have drawn criticism from those who say the president’s crackdown chills dissent, curtails a free press and betrays Obama’s initial promise to “usher in a new era of open government.”

The popular medias have done an excellant job at miss-informing you on many facts.
Here are a few that I don't need the media to tell me: I go to the gas pump and pay nearly $4/gal . When 4 yrs ago it was at $1.87/ gal. I go to the grocery store and find prices have doubled and even tripled from 4 yrs. ago. Lets face it things are not better!!! Then more money is being taken out of my paycheck to pay for Obama-care mandates.... The little bit of retirement funds we had have not made a come back we are lucky if we can manage to just keep it from losing more ( and now we think that thats awesome cause at least it's not dropping in value) Investment funds ARE supposed to grow.
Then, about the wars, are you happy that Osama bin Laden is gone? Thankyou President Bush ( oh my gosh I said his name) thankyou for waging war on al-Qaeda. I love how Mr Obama takes the credit for getting bin Laden and then complains about the funding of the war and taking care of our Vets.

CatsRcool,
With all due respect..you need to find a different grocery store..prices have not tripled or quadrupled whatsoever.
Bush didn't get Bin Laden, Obama did, spin how you want to, Obama couldn't wage the war on the terrorists who attacked and killed almost 3000 people, as he wasn't in office at the time..he simply finished it. You what though..911 did happen on Bushes watch, you got that right.
The gas prices are controlled by the very wealthy oil companies, THE ONES Romney WANTS TO MAKE RICHER. This IS A FACT. BTW..we just returned from Italy, where gas is over $9.00 a gallon as it is all over Europe.
In any administration during election time the question is asked "are you better off than you were four years ago?". This is a standard political line. There will always be people on both sides of that question. I do no that no President will drastically reduce poverty, if they say they will they are lying.
I am much better off that I was 4 years ago when Bush took us to the brink of recession. I know it can't be from all the money I am saving shopping at a different grocery store than you are either!
BTW..be specific..if not Obama, who SHOULD take credit for killing Bin-Laden? Even the Republicans congratulated the administration on this one. I am waiting with baited breath to find out who you believe did the deed, we all know who didn't.

Nuttiest post of the week: "are you happy that Osama bin Laden is gone? Thank you President Bush".
Supply & demand would suggest that in the middle of a economic system crash, demand would drop, as would the price. In the same way, with economic activity up, so is the demand, and so is the price.
But thanking Bush - really. Is that why he and Darth Cheney weren't invited to the GOP convention? They could have given him a medal or something.
Instead, they were both stashed away in undisclosed locations.

ROMNEY: "I know he keeps saying, `You want to take Detroit bankrupt.' Well, the president took Detroit bankrupt. You took General Motors bankrupt. You took Chrysler bankrupt. So when you say that I wanted to take the auto industry bankrupt, you actually did. And I think it's important to know that that was a process that was necessary to get those companies back on their feet, so they could start hiring more people. That was precisely what I recommended and ultimately what happened."
THE FACTS: What Romney recommended did not happen, and his proposed path probably would have forced General Motors and Chrysler out of business. He opposed using government money to bail out the automakers, instead favoring privately financed bankruptcy restructuring. But the automakers were bleeding cash and were poor credit risks. The banking system was in crisis. So private loans weren't available. Without government aid, both companies probably would have gone under and their assets would have been sold in pieces.

Improving? You've got to be kidding! No. We need someone in office now who knows what he is doing. Someone who can unleash the power of capitalism from the freest nation on earth. The liberal experiment is over. Time to turn it back over to the adults. And really Roy, stop blaming the last 4 on GWB. It's really pathetic and worn out. Obama had both houses of Congress and has wasted it . Time to step aside.

Can we stop with the lie that "Obama had both houses of Congress and has wasted it"? The GOP has controlled the House for 50% of President Obama's term. It has used the filibuster in the Senate to repeatedly hamper the flow of legislation - even items the GOP agreed with after the filibuster! So, please stop using the "he could do whatever he wanted to do, hasn't done everything yet, so let's replace him" whine - it is simply not true.

Robert, YOUR party had 8 YEARS to destroy our economy, the LEAST we can do is give Obama 8 to FIX it!!! To reward the Republicans with the White House after the catastrophe Bush and his party left us in would be the epitome of foolishness! Do you really believe that providing $5 Trillion in tax cuts (skewed mostly to the wealthy) and spending $2 Trillion on weapons the Pentagon hasn't asked for is WISE!??? Well, that's precisely what your man Romney plans to do. Like all Republicans, his aim is to make the rich (who've done phenomenally well during the past decade) even richer while slashing programs for the poor and middle class. Your vote will ensure that happens.

Yeah, He really deserves another 4 years. He has been so busy working so hard for us to keep us safe! NOT!

No, Robert, not kidding! How's your 401k look compared to Jan 08? How's it feel to have the Iraq war over and a plan for exiting Afghanistan? How's 30months of job growth feel? HOw's Bin Laden at the bottom of the ocean feel?
If "turning it back to the adults" means turning it back to the repub policies that created this mess, no thanks!

Keep drinking the Kool aid. You'll be alright. Yes, let's see. The middle east its pin fire. 23 million unemployed. Still no plan from Obama. You blame "filibustering" unbelievable! If that is the case, how did the Dems push Obamacare through without 1 republican vote? And 16 trillion ADDED on Barack Hussein Obama's watch. Oh yes, he did kill Bin Laden and takes all the credit, but then can't man up and call a terrorist act terrorism, lies about it, has Hillary take the fall because the buck stops with her. We can't afford 4 more years. It's much worse than Jimmy Carter and he will meet the same fate because the American people, Republicans, Democrats, and Independents see him for what he is: an empty suit. You know that I am right.

Obama did not add 16 trillion to the debt. You have your fox news talking points mixed up.

If you think turning the country back to the same crew that crashed the economy and led us into unfunded wars is a good direction for the future, you probably have Romnesia.
If you accept Romney's "I asked for qualified women" lie, even after knowing that a bipartisan women's group had identified female candidates for any gubernatorial administration and they were give to him UNSOLICITED, your Romnesia is getting worse.
If you plan to vote for a man who considers you unwilling to take responsibility for yourself because you are not making enough to pay federal income tax, your Romnesia is surely clouding your mind.
While "Obamacare" covers pre-existing conditions, note that the only way you get to keep that coverage is if you vote Obama/Biden/Democrats 2012.

Robert,
If after last nights debate you cannot honestly say that Romney has a CLUE on foreign policy, then you have your candidate in Romney. He reminded of a kid in school cheating off of the smart kid next to him. He agreed with Obama all night long, as Obama's policy's are the best, and did it with a red face full of sweat. Even fox News was dismayed at his "weak performance" and you should be as well.
I was objective enough after debate number one to say Romney had it, and you need to be honest enough to admit your candidate was a hot mess last night.

October 11, 2012 Has Romney Gone Pathological? A Master Class in Lying by LAWRENCE DAVIDSON -- Mitt Romney might be the most brazen political liar since James Polk. Polk, who was the 11th U.S. president (1845-1849), lied through his teeth–to Congress,Johnson (Vietnam) and Bush Jr. (Iraq), but Polk had the same audacious, “lying is part of what I do,” disposition as does our current Republican candidate.
