Police report vandalism at former Eagle Elementary

Officers patrolling the site of Eagle Elementary School, which was closed by Farmington Public Schools in 2010, found a window broken on the west side of the building Aug. 22, according to Lt. Tim Diamond.

A "small diameter projectile" caused the damage to the future home of the Muslim Cultural Center, a project of the Islamic Cultural Association of Franklin. There are no suspects.

Shoplifting from Kohl's

Two women were arrested in seperate incidents of retail fraud at Kohl's Department Store this week, according to Diamond.

About $400-$500 worth of merchandise was taken during the most recent incident, Aug. 28 at about 2 p.m., when a loss prevention officer told police that they had seen a shopper intentionally taking tags off of clothing and accessories. The officer later confronted the suspect, a 25-year-old Troy woman, as she attempted to leave the store.

Police believe that the suspect had gone to the fitting room with several items and emerged wearing many of them, Diamond said. She was given a citation and released that day.

A 47-year-old Southfield resident was arrested Aug. 25 at about 6:30 p.m. after a loss prevention officer told police she had been seen placing lipstick and earrings, totaling about $50, in her pants pockets. She was also given a citation and released.
