West Bloomfield Police Department reports indicate 118 alarms, 28 crashes, and 13 arrests from July 4-9. Among the highlights:

Detectives are investigating a series of incidents in which tires were slashed on four vehicles in a residential neighborhood recently.

Lt. Tim Diamond reports that $2,000 worth of damage was done overnight between July 5-6 on vehicles parked on Carrington, Yorkshire, and Lexington.

"It's an area in which we don't really see many problems," Diamond noted. "Some were in the street, some were in the drive. It's strange to see."

Police have no suspects.

Closed school graffiti

Police responded to an incidence of broken glass and obscene graffiti at the recently-closed Twin Beach Elementary School July 9.

Diamond said that one window appeared broken, but it was not clear how. He added that the incident could have taken place any time over several weeks since the school was last occupied.

It's the second incidence of destruction at a closed school in West Bloomfield in as many weeks. Police are still investigating a report that 21 windows at the closed Lone Pine Elementary School building were broken with brick pavers by vandals.

Police have no suspects.

Attempted burglary at hardware store

Police are investigating an incidence in which a suspect of an attempted burglary might have tried to run their car through the back of a hardware store in West Bloomfield, according to Diamond.

He said that sometime between July 7-9, a suspect or suspects tried to break in the rear door of Dick's Lawn Equipment, 7215 Cooley Lake Rd., but were not successful. The incident was not reported until the next work day. Police have no suspects.
