Residents Excited for Orchard Lake Road Repaving (with video)
Work on $1.4M project, beginning today, expected to slow traffic to one lane.
One of West Bloomfield's most-traversed gateway intersections will undergo a repaving job beginning this morning, which is expected to slow traffic to one lane.
A stretch of Orchard Lake Road in-between 13 Mile and 14 Mile roads in Farmington Hills is expected to undergo the $1.4 million project until Oct. 3.
Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) public information officer Craig Bryson wrote in a recent release that the road will remain reduced to one open lane in each direction for the duration of the project.
The project involves pavement repairs and new asphalt. Additionally, curbs and gutters will be repaired where needed, and sidewalks and pedestrian crosswalks will be upgraded to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Residents spoke out in favor of the project this weekend, offering that the delay caused by construction is a small price to pay for a smoother ride.
