State Champ! Finn Repeats Cross Country Victory
West Bloomfield High School senior defeats second place by 17 seconds with a personal record of 17 minutes, 7.9 seconds.
West Bloomfield High School senior Erin Finn won for the second consecutive year at the Division 1 cross-country state championship Saturday in Brooklyn despite a change in style brought upon by iron deficiency.
The Detroit Free Press reported that Finn, who ran a personal record 17:07.9, has been running with an iron deficiency discovered this season. It caused her to run differently than she did when she won last year with a time of 17:22.6.
Finn said in a release posted to milesplit.com said that she would run for the University of Michigan next fall on a talented squad that also includes Shannon Osika (Waterford Mott), Brook Handler (Rochester) and Taylor Manett (Rockford). Finn plans to major in biomedical engineering.
