This Week in West Bloomfield: 5 Things to Know

Patch will be covering meetings and championship football in the Greater West Bloomfield area this week.

Five local stories to keep an eye on Nov. 19-24:

1. The Orchard Lake St. Mary's varsity Eaglets continue their quest to repeat as state champions in the championship round of the Michigan High School Athletic Association football playoffs. After traveling to Chelsea and beating Battle Creek Harper Creek this past weekend, the Eaglets earned a date with Grand Rapids Christian on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

2. Among the issues which will be tackled at the West Bloomfield School Board meeting Monday night will be the School District's reported desire for a special election to be held in 2013. The district's 2012 building and site sinking fund proposal lost at the polls and Superintendent Gerald Hill said that a similar proposal could return to the ballot.

3. The West Bloomfield weather forecast calls for plenty of sun leading up to Thanksgiving. Although Monday morning's forecast calls for patchy fog, expect to see clear skies for the rest of the week. The high should top out at 59 degrees on Thanksgiving, according to the National Weather Service.

4. The New York Red Cross will continue to need help and donations in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. The Red Cross offers tips on how you can help Sandy's victims. To schedule a blood donation appointment, visit redcrossblood.org

5. The Patch Fights Hunger online food drive, supporting Gleaners Community Food Bank, runs through Sunday, Nov. 24. The 30 Michigan Patch sites are proud and honored to be their first partner.
