Underground Equipment Trouble Knocks Out Power for 300 in West Bloomfield
Hundreds of homes near Farmington Road and Maple are without power Wednesday morning, DTE says, after heavy snow fell overnight.
More than 300 households in West Bloomfield are waking up Wednesday without power, according to the latest reports from DTE Energy.
At least 300 DTE Energy customers are without power west of Farmington Road and north of Maple Wednesday morning, according to the DTE Outage Map.
The outage is due to "problem with underground equipment," DTE says, with restoration times expected between 9:30-11:30 p.m. Wednesday.
West Bloomfield is also waking up Wednesday with a winter weather advisory after several inches of wet, heavy snow fell overnight — closing West Bloomfield Schools as well as several area private schools.
According to the National Weather Service, heavy snow can bring down tree branches and weigh down power lines, resulting in widespread power outages.
Hundreds of DTE customers are without power across Metro Detroit Wednesday morning, including several additional pockets throughout West Bloomfield, including 26 homes near the intersection of Walnut Lake and Middlebelt.
