The third Monday in January—otherwise known as Martin Luther King Jr. Day—can be a day off spent sleeping in and lounging around the house.

But for millions of Americans, it's a day spent volunteering.

Will you be giving some of your time to a good cause, or did you already on Saturday—the National Day of Service declared by President Barack Obama?
