West Bloomfield Residents Ready for Spring

Many West Bloomfield Patch readers shared their opinions on what signifies the end of winter.

Spring officially begins next week.

While Wednesday, March 20 the Michigan winter officially comes to a close, West Bloomfield Patch readers have some unofficial events that signify the end of the season and posted their opinions on the West Bloomfield Patch Facebook page.

Jeff Katz posted that the beginning of baseball season, little league and pro, signifies the end of winter for him. Jackie Fletcher noted that she saw a robin yesterday, while Danielle Dickow said that any temperature above 45 and Margaret Thele said no snow means the spring is here.

Jenni Blustein posted "when all the boots go on sale and the sandals and summer clothes go on the racks at the stores" signifies the end of winter.

Cody Kafer posted "The horses at Maybury Riding Stable shedding their winter coats, until that happens its still winter!"

Bryan Watson said the end of winter is when "the cherry tree bursts into bloom overnight."

The extended forecast suggests next week will likely feel like winter, however. The National Weather Service is forecasting temperatures in the upper 30s and lows in the 20s.

I usually view St. Patrick's Day as the end of winter, but not so much this year....
