West Bloomfield Swim and Dive Teams Impressive at County Meet

Head coach calls results the 'best finish in at least 15 years' for the Lakers.

While football is sure to be top-of-mind for many on Monday, don't forget the successful show by the West Bloomfield High School swimming and diving teams this past Saturday.

In an email to parents and student-athletes, head coach Bob Crosby said that the 12th-place finish (82 points) at the Oakland County Championship meet at Lake Orion High School marked the boys team's "best finish in at least 15 years."

Congratulations to the Lakers' John Yurich, who made cuts for the state finals in two events. The team also had state cuts in the 200-yard freestyle relay (Yurich, Nick Simon, Pete Forhan, and Andrew Jacob), and the 400-yard freestyle relay (Yurich, Forhan, Jacob, and Tyler Edwards).

Bloomfield Hills Brother Rice High School won the event, with 347 points.

Congratulations, Lakes! Also participating at the County Meet for WBHS was Amr Zakkar, Jacob Thoma, Kellen Boyd, and Eric Vrbensky. Good luck this week with your final dual meets at Royal Oak (Tues) and Clarkston (6:00pm Thursday at Home). Beat Clarkston to be undefeated in the league. Go Lakers!
