What Would You Do ... With Available Land in Keego Harbor?

You don't need to be an urban planner to know what West Bloomfield needs from this vacancy. Talk about it on Patch.

More than one half of an acre sits bare in the heart of Keego Harbor, waiting for the right development proposal.

City planner Brian Oppmann said that the city-owned property, on 0.68 acres at the northeast corner of Cass Lake Road and Orchard Lake Road, is zoned for almost any commercial use.

What is your dream proposal? A school, a gym, or a restaurant?

How about your craziest proposal? A school which is used as a concert hall at night? A jungle gym? An open-air fast food restaurant?

You don't need to be a commercial developer or urban planner — or have money to invest in a business project — to have the next great idea. We want to hear about it.

Article mentions the NW quadrant, but likely the NE quadrant is the subject parcel. I'd like to see a Taco Bell go in, since I love me some late night greasy. And since this isn't in West Bloomfield, maybe a drive through is possible.

Thanks, Dave, you're right, about the northeast corner.

Parking!! Parking!! Parking!! with a small pedestrian courtyard and a welcoming sign to Keego Harbor. Why doesn't the current administration see the need for this?

How about a public space with a gazebo or small pavilion where you could have music and performances? It would encourage people to come down and spend some time in the area and with local businesses.

The last thing we need is more fast food - Taco Bell is just up the road and reopening soon. Quality restaurants, vibrant shops, green public spaces perhaps with a cafe...all these things help build community.

Find a place for a DECENT GROCERY STORE and you will then have the perfect balance.

Is there a need for child care in Keego? I noticed that the only child care currently offered in the area is the elementary school latch key program.
But an open air restaurant would be neat. A coffee place with outdoor seating would be cool, too.
