158 energy customers in the Greater West Bloomfield area were in the dark Monday.

Updated: 6:02 p.m.

Having your power knocked out may not be best way to start the week, but that's how 158 area DTE Energy customers started theirs.

The power came back on Monday afternoon after reportedly going out early Monday morning. The cause was due to the failure of an auto-protection device, according to the DTE Energy map available online.

The outage affected customers living in the area of Old Orchard Trail and Pontiac Trail, as far north as the Orchard Lake Country Club and south along Hardwoods Drive.

Precipitation remains in the forecast Monday night as it was Sunday, with a chance of snow showers after 7 p.m. and wind gusts up to 20 m.p.h., according to the National Weather Service.
