Whether it's game day at your house, or just a busy weeknight, these Beer Poached Italian Sausages are EASY and yummy!
There are often coupons for Italian Sausage, buns ALWAYS go on sale, and beer? Well, I'm sure you have one laying around! You can make these with any beer you have available, or any beer you absolutely love! I made mine with Blue Moon Winter Lager, but you choose whatever you want. My husband thought a sweeter beer would have been better, but I really liked them the way they were.
These would be great if you're tailgating!
Beer Poached Italian Sausage
Ingredients:
1 pkg. Sweet Italian Sausage (or whatever you like. My pkg. had 5 links, but I probably could have used 2 packages for the amount of liquid I had.)
1 (12 oz.) Beer
Directions:
Place the sausage into your crock. Pour the beer over the top. Cook on LOW for 6-7 hours or on HIGH for 3-4 hours. Enjoy!

Take a fork, poke some holes in the sausages and the poaching time can be reduced. I use a regular pan and poach them for about 30 to 45 min...I use Samuel Adams or Bass Ale ( the beer needs to have a good body, a lager will not provide that unique taste)

The other benefit of using a regular pan is after the liquid evaporates the sausages will brown in the pan which is something a slow cooker can't achieve.
