One of six elementary schools in the West Bloomfield School, Doherty Elementary School has 514 students, grades K-5 and 21 teachers. Under Principal Susan Crocker, it is a National Blue Ribbon School, a Blue Ribbon Exemplary School, and a Golden Apple Award School. Doherty students take part in extracurricular activities such as Science Alive, where the school brings in live animals. It offers art projects such as art nouveau and Marc Chagall dream portraits.
