3 Ways to Lower Your Blood Pressure in West Bloomfield

Walking, yoga and a cooking class are offered at Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital in November and December.

Whether you need to lower your blood pressure or just want to improve your health, Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital offers three programs in November and December that can help:

Mindful Walking Club
Nov. 1, 8, 15, 22 1 p.m. – 1:45 p.m.
Dec. 6, 13, 20 1 p.m. - 1:45 p.m.
$5 per class (walk-ins are welcome)/$30 for all 7
Please check in 15 minutes before class at the Vita wellness center. Join certified yoga teacher Julie Levinson for an indoor wellness activity focused on meditation, postural alignment and balance. The class begins with walking inside the hospital and continues with gentle stretching and standing techniques.

Seated Yoga Class
Nov. 5, 12, 19,  12:30 p.m. – 1:15 p.m.
Dec 3, 10, 17, 12:30 p.m. – 1:15 p.m.
$5 per class (walk-ins are welcome)/$25 for all 6.
Please check in 15 minutes before class at Vita wellness center. Learn breathing techniques, and how adaptive yoga can improve mobility, strength and flexibility. Learn breathing techniques to improve lung capacity, reduce pain and calm the body and mind.

The DASH Diet: Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension
Dec. 3, 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
FREE, registration required
Learn about the DASH diet from a registered dietitian. It is recommended to lower blood pressure and cholesterol, and associated with a lower risk of some cancers, heart disease, stroke, heart failure, kidney stones, and more.
