5 School Supplies You Can Find in Greater West Bloomfield Stores

West Bloomfield students go back to school Sept. 3, and while every class requires different supplies, here's a list of five commonly needed items and what prices you can expect to pay at local stores:

1. Pencils: At Dollar General in Sylvan Lake, Imagine yellow and fashion #2 pencils run 50 cents to $1 per package. Staples on Orchard Lake Road is selling an 18-pack of Ticonderoga #2 pencils for $4. 
2. Notebooks: Notables composition and wirebound single subject notebooks are a buck each at Dollar General. Staples has wireless single subject notebooks for the same price. 
3. Backpack: This week, Staples is selling backpacks, including JanSport, Swiss Gear, SkullCandy and other brands at a 25-50 percent discount. Dollar General has a selection of backpacks at $6-$8. 
4. Glue stick: Staples is selling Avery glue sticks for $2; Dollar General has Elmer's glue sticks for $1. 
5. Folder: Take home folders for a penny each this week at Staples, with a $5 minimum purchase. Dollar General at 2-pocket folders with prongs for 50 cents.
