5 Things You Should Know About the Great West Bloomfield Campout

Held at Marshbank Park, the event includes activities like fishing and archery.

If you can't wait for a chance to break out your tent and sleeping bag, head over to West Bloomfield's Marshbank Park for the Great West Bloomfield Camp Out Sept. 20.

Before you go, here are five things you should know about this annual event, hosted by the West Bloomfield Township Parks and Recreation Department:

1. You can't just show up.

Registration is required. You must reserve your spot by 4 p.m. on Sept. 18. Call 248-451-1900 or register at westbloomfieldparks.org

2. The price of admission is pretty cheap.

The cost of $7 per person for residents ($10 per person for non-residents) includes dinner, breakfast and s'mores in between, plus all activities.

3. Boredom is not an option.

Activities include fishing, archery, crafts and star-gazing. And, of course, making s'mores.

4. Don't bring the RV.

This event is only for tent campers. And each tent must be occupied by at least one adult.

5. You may be able to sleep in.

Check out time is 11 a.m. Saturday.
