For the first time ever, the Michigan Youth Arts Association will team up with Closet NV in West Bloomfield for a Dec. 12 holiday shopping fundraiser that will support arts education in Michigan’s schools.
From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., attendees will receive light refreshments and exclusive shopping specials. To RSVP for Closet NV’s “Girls Night Out!” event, visit michiganyoutharts.org.
Located within The Boardwalk Plaza, Closet NV was named Detroit’s Best Consignment Store by Hour Magazine in 2011 and has been featured in StyleLine Magazine, Daily Dress, and Metro You. With multiple consigners from around the world, Closet NV carries high-end name brands including Armani, Chanel, Versace, Coach and more.
The store hosts monthly “Girls’ Night Out!” shopping events to benefit local charities, providing the invitations, decorations, food, and drinks. After the event, the selected charity receives a percentage of the evening’s shopping proceeds.
“Quality art should be celebrated, whether it’s in a school, a museum, or a designer fashion boutique,” said Marianne Dorais, Michigan Youth Arts Association executive director. “We’re extremely honored to be selected as this month’s beneficiary for Closet NV’s ‘Girls’ Night Out!’ fundraiser – and we’re thrilled that it’s just in time for the holidays!”
Michigan Youth Arts is an alliance of 16 statewide education associations that work together collaboratively to develop high quality arts education programming, recognize the contributions of valuable teachers, and provide advocacy resources for parents, educators and policymakers.
In addition to its signature event, the Michigan Youth Arts Festival, the organization provides field trip transportation grants for Michigan K-12 schools, hosts an annual arts education public policy forum, and coordinates the annual Arts Expo College Fair for high school students who are interested in pursuing degrees in the fine and performing arts.
