98.7 AMP Radio's Gown Town

98.7 AMP Radio’s Gown Town event is helping send metro Detroit’s Cinderellas to the ball. The annual event collects lightly-used formal and cocktail dresses for teens that are unable to afford a glamorous dress for prom. Last year, around 350 dresses were donated. Teens are cordially invited to pick up the dress of their dreams at Douglas J. Salon, 409 South Center Street, Royal Oak on Sunday, April 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Teens and families can drop off their gently-used homecoming, bridesmaid and prom dresses at the following locations:

  • Our Credit Union (726 S. Washington Ave., Royal Oak) -- Friday, March 14 from 4 p.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Our Credit Union (6693 Rochester Rd., Troy) -- Thursday, March 20 from Noon – 1 p.m.
  • AIO Wireless (9145 Telegraph Road, Taylor) -- Friday, March 21 from 5 p.m. – 6 p.m.
  • AIO Wireless (30842 Schoenherr Road, Warren) -- Friday, March 28 from 5 p.m. – 6 p.m.
  • Douglas J. Salon (409 South Center St., Royal Oak) – Saturday, March 29 from Noon – 2 p.m.
  • Oakland Mall (412 West Fourteen Mile, Troy) – Saturday, March 29 from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. and Sunday, March 30 from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m.

In addition, Martinizing Dry Cleaning has agreed to dry clean every dress that is donated at no charge. Other Gown Town sponsors helping turn prom night into a fairytale include Douglas J Salon, Health Alliance Plan, OUR Credit Union and AIO Wireless.
