Hiring: Job Fair on May 14 in Oak Park

JVS is hosting a job fair with more than 30 employers on May 14 in Oak Park.   Employers will include Kelly Services, Gardner-White, Shinola, Talmer Bank, Lowe Campbell Ewald, Aerotek, Detroit Police Department and more. Open to the general public and free for job seekers, the event will run from 8 a.m.-noon at the Jewish Community Center, 14110 W. Ten Mile Rd., Oak Park.

Job seekers may find more information and register for the event at www.ActNow.Jobs. Pre-registration is recommended.
In addition to meeting prospective employers, job seekers can attend free sessions to fine-tune their job search skills and strategies. From 8-9:30 a.m., a panel of hiring managers will provide tips they wish they could give during an interview. From 9:30 a.m.-noon, attendees may meet for a brief one-on-one session with a career expert for advice and answers to any job search question.

JVS also provides ongoing workshops for job seekers. For example, programs offered in the week leading up to the job fair focus on writing cover letters and resumes, the job search process, applying for jobs online, interviewing tips, using social media for job search and preparing for a job fair. Most sessions are one to two hours and all are free.

The event is sponsored in partnership with Oakland County Michigan Works!, Detroit Employment Solutions Group and SEMCA, and in collaboration with several Jewish agencies and synagogues.
