Garden Cruise Benefit Tour Includes West Bloomfield
The event benefits The Greening of Detroit, which offers educational programs, environmental leadership and advocacy.
A West Bloomfield home's landscape will be among seven area gardens featured Sunday in the 6th Annual Garden Cruise.
All of the gardens are designed, planted or inspired by Deborah Silver.
The West Bloomfield property, dubbed "Susie's Place", reflects one person’s love of modern formality in the public landscape, and her commitment to lively outdoor living in her private spaces. The front landscape is formally green, and intensely white. Notable features include a brown bluestone walk and gravel and concrete selettes at her front door, which came 15 years ago from Paris.
In the back yard, a negative edge, L-shaped swimming pool is beautifully trimmed in glass tile, and recent additions include a Belgian fence, and several white perennial gardens.
Since 2008, the Garden Cruise has raised more than $60,000 for The Greening of Detroit, which inspires others to create a “greener” Detroit through planting and educational programs, environmental leadership and advocacy. Learn more or purchase tickets at http://thegardencruise.org.
