Get Out: Mad Hatter Party, The Poet and the Lion, and a New Jerusalem

From a hat full of imagination to a historical play, there is a great variety of activities in West Bloomfield this weekend.

It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend. West Bloomfield Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time. Check our picks for the activities to hit and events to attend in the area.

Where:

When: Friday at 1:30 p.m.

Why go: Come celebrate your "un-birthday" with a Mad Hatter Tea Party. If your child loves Alice and Wonderland the library is doing this straight from the book. Children will also get to create their own wild hat to wear.

When: Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Why go: Temple Kol ami is having a special Music Shabbat with a theme of music written by women. The Temple has invited the public to attend this service. Some of the late Debbie Friedman's music will be featured in the service and Cantorial soloist, Tiffany Green, will perform.

When: Saturday at 1 p.m.

Why go: Spring is here. You may be thinking about planting some flowers, but you haven't had much success in the past. Today English Gardens will give you no-nonsense advice that will help turn your thumb green.

When: Saturday at 5 p.m.

Why go: There will be a gala reception with wine and hors d'oeuvres as the Polish Mission unveils their John Paul II exhibit. Then St. Mary's Preparatory Ensemble give the opening performance for Marian Sobula, winner of the Yamaha Music Foundation Competition. Marian Sobula will perform music celebrating the friendship of Chopin and Liszt.

When: Sunday at 6:30 p.m.

Why go: If you have not had a chance to see the Midwest's premiere of this powerful play, tonight is your last chance. The JET performs this interrogation of Baruch de Spinozaat Tamud Torah Congregation in Amsterdam with a seasoned cast who add humor and updated dimension to the characters.
