David Moran, Clinical Professor of Law and founder of the Michigan Innocence Clinic recently visited the Jewish Community Center of Metropolitan Detroit in West Bloomfield and was captured on video discussing wrongful convictions in Michigan. The guest of IRP's Lunch & Learn on Friday also talked about clinic co-founder Bridget McCormack, who was sworn in as a Michigan Supreme Court justice in January.
The Michigan Innocence Clinic is the first of its kind in the country that exclusively handles non-DNA evidence cases.

Dear Mr. Moran: I need your help in a 1993 felony case of wrongful conviction based on expert witnesses' testimory for the prosecution. I discovered that those witnesses misinformed the jury. Another prosecution expert witness listed for trial, but who did not testify at the criminal trial, reluctantly in 2008 testified in an unrelated administrative law trial rebutting the prosecutorial theory of the case, jury instruction correlated to the testimonies of expert witnesses. My beleive, because of the way the AG handled a FOIA case (1996) related to the testimony of those witnesses, is that they did not tell true at the criminal trial. to the jury, i.e. the testimony was perjurious, but their intent in not telling the truth is not erelevant for me. The Ingham County Circuit Court refused to appoint for me and my wife an attorney for my post appeal relief motion, but the new law may have changed the discretional power of the court sto appoint attorneys in such cases for indigent defendants.
