Some Smokers Eligible for Low-Cost CT Screening at Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital

Those at risk for lung cancer who meet the criteria will be eligible for the $99 test.

Former and current smokers who may be at risk of lung cancer may be eligible for a $99 low-dose CT screening of their lungs at Henry Ford Hospital.

Henry Ford was part of a national study, which found in 2010 that CT screening showed a 20 percent reduction in deaths from lung cancer than those screened by chest X-ray.

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in men and women in the United States, according to the American Lung Association. More people die of lung cancer than colon, breast and prostate cancers combined. Smoking is linked to at least 80 percent of lung cancer deaths.
