Super Bird Sunday: Special Animal Programs at Johnson Nature Center

Learn what you need to know about coyotes, birds and more in Oakland County during a special weekend not too far from home.

It's Super Bowl weekend, but are you wondering what you can do that won't (most likely) involve pigskin and requires more than a 30-second attention span? 

Try out: Coyote Friend or Foe?

  • When: 1 p.m. Saturday
  • Where: Johnson Nature Center
  • Cost: Free
  • Why Go: Hear Wayne State University researcher Bill Dodge discuss his findings about the urban coyote population throughout the Detroit area, including Bloomfield Township. Information about protecting small pets will be available, and Officer Pete Matejcik of the Bloomfield Township Police Department will also be there to answer questions.

  • Why Go: The community is invited to join the Johnson Nature Center staff as they conduct the annual winter bird count and census. Birdwatchers of all ages and levels of experience are welcome. Warm refreshments will be provided.
