The Lakes Area Memorial Day Parade

The Lakes Area Memorial Day Parade began in Keego Harbor with an opening ceremony and ended with a recognition ceremony in Veterans Memorial Park, Sylvan Lake.

The red, white, and blue were well represented on Orchard Lake Road Monday as about 5,000 people lined the streets for the Lakes Area Memorial Day Parade in Sylvan Lake and Keego Harbor.

The parade included  the  marching band, the , the United States Coast Guard, and veteran representatives of foreign wars. All in all, the 1.2-mile long parade stretch was a sunny, warm and a well-populated affair.

The festivities began with opening ceremonies at 9:30 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park in Keego Harbor before the parade traveled east along Orchard Lake Road and ending with a service for veterans at Memorial Park in Sylvan Lake at 11:30 a.m.
