West Bloomfield Police Report No Serious Storm Damage

According to DTE Energy, restoring power to thousands of customers will likely take several days.

While some traffic signals are still not working, West Bloomfield Township Police say the township did not suffer much damage from a storm and high winds that blew through southeast Michigan Sunday night and early Monday morning.

Lieutenant Tim Diamond said traffic lights at Hiller and Greer, and Hiller and Cooley Lake (on the Waterford Township border) were out as of early Monday afternoon.

Thousands of DTE Energy customers in the West Bloomfield area will likely remain without power for at least another day; the power company's outage map now lists restoration times as "not available". Between DTE and Consumers Energy, more than half a million Michigan residents remain without power, according to a Detroit Free Press report

Because crews are busy across the Midwest, "we expect the restoration to take several days,” spokesman Scott Simons said.
