Where Can I Recycle My Christmas Tree?

Greater West Bloomfield residents can bring their trees to Oakland County park locations for chipping and composting.

Oakland County residents have a sustainable option when it comes to disposing of Christmas trees.

Through the second Saturday in January, trees will be accepted, free of charge, 7 days a week, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., at 11 Oakland County parks locations. According to destinationoakland.com, the program is self-service; no one is available at the site to help get the tree out of your vehicle.

All decorations, lights, tinsel and ornaments must be removed, and trees should not be placed in plastic bags, because they will turned into compost and wood chips that will be available to the public in 2014.

Nearby locations include:

  • Glen Oaks County Golf Course's clubhouse parking lot, 30500 W. 13 Mile Rd. in Farmington Hills
  • Waterford Oaks, 1702 Scott Lake Rd., Waterford Township
  • White Lake Oaks, 991 N. Williams Lake Rd., White Lake Township
