Detroit Symphony Orchestra Announces Neighborhood Concert Series

The Neighborhood Residency Initiative (NRI) will expand the Orchestra’s existing presence in these communities through these new concerts, as well as school partnerships, scheduled and “pop up” chamber music appearances, and other seasonal programming. Music Director Leonard Slatkin will conduct nearly half of these new concerts.

The events in these neighborhood residencies are built within the Orchestra’s schedule at Orchestra Hall, one of the most revered concert venues in America.  With the Neighborhood Concert Series, comprised of 24 newly added concerts to the orchestra’s schedule, NRI is the DSO’s most significant artistic initiative since the return to Orchestra Hall in 1989.  Neighborhood concerts will partner with businesses that may sponsor individual concerts or the entire concert series.

The Neighborhood Concert Series will feature repertoire from select Orchestra Hall concerts, as well as selections prepared especially for this new series.
