Marshbank Kicks Off Summer with 'Old School' Concert

'Old school' R&B band Groove Council will play at annual West Bloomfield Parks and Recreation event Wednesday night.

Local families which prefer West Bloomfield to Woodstock, take note: the Summer Concert Series is sure to drum up some fun.

will hold its annual Hot Nights Hot Music concert series at on five consecutive Wednesdays until mid-August.

The fun kicks off tonight, with an old school, horn-driven, R&B nine-piece band from Detroit named the Groove Council set to take center stage at 7 p.m.

The free event is promoted as a night out for the family to enjoy. Lawn chairs, picnic baskets, and blankets are encouraged, but no alcohol is allowed. The Optimist Club of West Bloomfield will offer light refreshments for purchase, including hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, water and soft drinks.

Parks and Recreation further advises that the parking lot directly in front of the lodge (the building you see from the entrance) is reserved for handicap parking during the concerts.

A SMART bus will be on site rotating from the Maple Ridge Parking Lot to the Oak Ridge Parking Lot, picking up those concertgoers who would like a ride up to the Lodge.

  • August 8: Acoustic Brothers from Different Mothers
