Former Owner of Bombay Grille Set to Open New Restaurant

West Bloomfield resident Vijaya Rao, former owner of Bombay Grille on Orchard Lake in Farmington Hills, moved one step closer to opening a new restaurant Monday.

Farmington Hills city council members on Monday approved a liquor license transfer and new Sunday sales, outdoor service and entertainment permit for RAO Sports Bar & Grille, which is expected to open this spring in the former Players Billiards Bar & Grill location on 10 Mile Road east of I-275. 

According to the license application, Rao will invest about $10,000 in renovations to the 4000-square-foot space.

The application included a copy of the restaurant's proposed menu, which features soups and salads, burgers, pizza and entrees ranging from cajun alfredo chicken and fish tacos, to more traditional fare, like baked macaroni and cheese, ribs and steak. Desserts include cheesecake, several ice cream dishes and "dirt worms dessert".
