Why go: For children ages 5-7, it's an opportunity to hear a story about Danny and the Dinosaur, think about all the things you would do if your best friend was a dinosaur, then meet Danny’s dinosaur.

Why go: Here’s your chance to get rid of things and raise money for children with speech and language disorders. You can drop off your old computer, car batteries, cell phones and stereo equipment (a complete list is on the website) and know that 65 percent of the proceeds are going to Beaumont Children’s Hospital.

Cheddar’s Preschool Story Time
Why go: For children ages 2-5 and an adult, it's an opportunity to join Cheddar the Mouse and listen to a tale about May Flowers. Make a simple craft and have a treat.

Detroit Public Schools Student Exhibition
Why go: Your kids will be inspired to create when you look at the winning painting, sculpture, pottery, drawing and mixed media made by school kids in Detroit Public Schools, grades K-12.
Where: Detroit Institute of Arts, 5200 Woodward Avenue, Detroit
When: 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays, 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Fridays, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, April 30-June 5
Cost: Free with museum admission, $8 adults, $4 children ages 6-17
