Hundreds Celebrate Hanukkah Menorah Lighting at Orchard Mall

The Bais Chabad Torah Center put on the event featuring a children's choir, klezmer band and a large menorah to celebrate the first night of Hanukkah.

Jews and non-Jews alike gathered at sundown Tuesday to celebrate the first night of Hanukkah with the lighting of a large menorah.

The event at drew hundreds of people, estimated by Rabbi and outreach director Shneur Silberberg, who lit the shamash — the extra candle used to light the first candle of the eight-night festival — with mall management Susie Sills and Michael Levey after a brief introduction from Township Supervisor Michele Economou Ureste.
