La Feast Reopens, Blackbird Bistro Debuts New Menu and More Restaurant News

La Feast Restaurant in Royal Oak: La Feast reopened Dec. 8 at 315 S. Main St. after suffering damage in 2011 when the roof collapsed resulting in broken water and gas lines. The restaurant serves Lebanese favorites, breakfast, raw juices, salads, soups, burgers, desserts and Mediterranean pizza. La Feast is open 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday; 10 a.m.-midnight Friday and Saturday.

Doc Sweets' Candy Company in Clawson: The largest retail candy store in Michigan offers hundreds of holiday treats for last-minute stocking stuffers, party gifts, or possibly, just to indulge. The shop is located at 120 S. Rochester Road and open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Blackbird Bistro in Rochester: The former Tower Pizza has added a cocktail menu and gotten dressed up for dinner. Blackbird Bistro's new dinner menu features six entrees that accommodate all tastes; the lunch menu includes homemade soups and sandwiches and, of course, pizza. Blackbird Bistro also serves a Sunday brunch each week from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and offers live music. The restaurant is located at 334 N. Main. It is open daily for lunch and dinner. Crispelli's Bakery & Pizzeria in Berkley: The Woodward Avenue restaurant made the Detroit Free Press’ top 10 list of the best new restaurants of 2012. "Scratch-made, hand-crafted food, prepared to order, ready in minutes and affordably priced isn't easy for diners to find – or for restaurants to produce. But that's the whole idea at Crispelli's," the Freep raves. Call 248-591-3300 for more information.

Local Kitchen and Bar and One-Eyed Betty's in Ferndale: The eateries also made the Detroit Free Press’ top 10 list of the best new restaurants of the year. Local Kitchen and Bar, which opened in August, offers "familiar food done extremely well," uses locally grown foods, and has a wood-burning fireplace in front and space for outdoor dining. One-Eyed Betty's, which opened in February, offers breakfast, an extensive craft beer menu, and dishes including fresh oysters, homemade doughnuts with dipping sauces, and “Bacon With a Side of Bacon” – a braised pork belly dish, Applewood smoked with a fried poached egg.
