West Bloomfield Chamber Opens 41st Year with January Installation

New officers take their posts for the business organization's 41st year.

The Greater West Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce opens 2014 by installing new officers at a breakfast on Jan. 10, 8 a.m., at Heartland of West Bloomfield, 6950 Farmington Rd.

Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. for the gourmet breakfast. Monica Gayle, an anchor with WJBK-TV, will be the master of ceremonies, and Judge Kimberly Small of the 48th District Court will install board members. 

The chamber will celebrate its 41st year in 2014. Executive director Suzanne Levine offered high praise for the outgoing chamber president.

“Kelly Taylor was an amazing leader," Levine said. "She never stopped working for the chamber this past year. Kelly went well above and beyond. Her dedication to putting the Chamber on the map was exemplary” 

Carla Schwartz of Beaumont Health System is slated to become the chamber president for the coming year, with Romy Shubitowski of DMC Huron Valley Sinai Hospital serving as president-elect. The executive board is rounded out by Tim Farris, of Ameriprise Financial as vice president, Kelly Taylor of Orchard Mall as immediate past president, Clara Bohrer of the West Bloomfield Township Library as treasurer and finance chair, and John Edwards of LaFontaine Automotive Group as secretary.

New board members installed will be Milton Duerod of Motion Realty and Debbie Issacs of Tapper’s.

“The transition from Kelly to Carla will be flawless," Levine said, "and I’m excited for another successful year with Carla’s energy and vision. We are already in the planning stages to make 2014’s events even more dynamic for our members.”
