Patch Picks: Where to Celebrate St. Patrick's Day

West Bloomfield restaurants, pubs, and taverns locations vie to make each other green with envy.

Patch Picks is a weekly feature highlighting our picks and, more importantly, your picks for a number of things. We'll look at, and ask about, great local businesses, local or near-local destination spots, local services, local organizations, ways to spend a day off, and whatever else we can think of.

We'll look to compile the best of everything from Sunday brunch spots to summer camps to date night destinations to florists to parks and more. So, stay tuned and contribute to our lists!

There are many ways to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, but having traditional foods and a drink — or maybe, two — has always been a favorite of West Bloomfield residents.  To help you decide where to go, Patch visited three friendly local establishments, turned on our video camera, and asked staff to entice you to celebrate with them. So check out these videos, put on some green, grab your designated driver and enjoy St. Patty’s Day!

  • will be serving green beer and a corned beef and cabbage special all day, in addition to its regular drink and food menu and daily specials. They’ll have Guinness Stout on tap (we recommend a Black and Tan) and bottles of Harp, Murphy’s Irish Stout and Smithwicks, none of which are green, but all of which come from Ireland.
  • Champps Americana is a sports bar, so while they’ll be green in spirit, the big focus will be the first day of the NCAA men's college basketball tournament on the bar's flat-screens.  They’ll have their regular bar and food offerings and specials, and some green coloring handy for those who demand green beer. And the place is sure to be green by game time (9:20 p.m.), when local favorite Michigan State University tips off against UCLA.
  • The Library Sports Pub & Grill is sure to have its share of MSU and leprechaun green, too. In addition to their regular offerings and specials, check out their non-traditional corned beef sliders, traditional corned beef and cabbage dinner, or "black and tan stew." They’ll have green beer, Guinness Stout on tap, and Killian’s Irish Red for those who prefer a domestic beer with an Irish name.
