5 Things You Need to Know About This Week

1. School activities will kick off this week for many students at and at Lakers seniors will have the opportunity to pick up their schedules, books, student IDs, school photographs, Laker Fan Club athletic passes, senior parking passes, student directories and more at the Jump Start event Tuesday from 7:30-10:30 a.m. and from 11:30 a.m.-1:15 p.m. Juniors will follow suit Wednesday at the same times, followed by sophomores Thursday at the same times and freshman Friday at the same times. Meanwhile, FJA will host new parent orientation at 7 p.m. Wednesday and freshman orientation at 7:30 a.m. Friday.

3. The weather forecast calls for stormy weather all week. The National Weather Service is expecting highs in the 80s through Thursday with sunny skies Monday and a high of 84 degrees Wednesday. Look for a chance of thunderstorms Tuesday through Friday, but the clouds are expected to dissipate for the weekend.

4. Fall sports season kicks off in West Bloomfield with a slate of games beginning Tuesday as the West Bloomfield High School girls varsity tennis team hosts Walled Lake Central High School at 4 p.m. The kicks off on the road Thursday at Farmington High School at 7 p.m., and the will travel to Grand Rapids West Catholic High School to play at 4:30 p.m. Friday.
